The tenth tabletop happening of 5×7 UNDERGROUND occurred on Friday, January 11th, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. “Saturation” was the theme and chosen by member, Mary Beth Francis.
5×7 UNDERGROUND met at Artisan Wine Co. in Westminster, Maryland. For many, this was the first time visiting and we were pleasantly surprised by the depth of the beer list considering the wine focus. Great ambiance, though a little dark for a table top art exhibition.
Artists in attendance included: Jeff Sharp, Mary Beth Francis, Jim Roberts, Lauren Latané-Valis and our newest member, Thomas Sterner. Thomas is an incredibly prolific professional artist residing in Carroll County and we are very excited to have him as part of the group. Check out his work at Sternerartfactory.com.
Each artist present their interpretation of saturation, beginning with Mary Beth Francis. Thomas Sterner also discussed his recent public sculpture commissions, his inclusions in the Elements exhibition at the Carroll Arts Center as well as his upcoming solo exhibition at NOMA in Frederick during the month of March. In fact both he and Jim Roberts are part of a invitational exhibition at NOMA until the end of January. Like we said, very prolific!
After each 5×7 UNDERGROUND artist presented their work in rotation, the work was displayed for a gallery photograph. Each work was also photographed individually and can be viewed in the isolated image gallery. We hope you enjoy the art and will visit us again!
5×7 UNDERGROUND also received an online submission for this theme from Portland, Oregon artist, Garret Izumi! Check out his submission on our Facebook group page!
