IDIOM

The seventeenth tabletop happening of 5×7 UNDERGROUND occurred on Friday, April 17th, 2020 from 5-6 p.m. “idiom” was the theme and chosen by member, Jim Roberts who confessed he wanted something “fun to work with.”

Little did we know two months ago that having our April tabletop pop up at Papa Joe’s in Westminster would be impossible due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Instead, 5×7 UNDERGROUND retreated to the safety of their homes and studios for their first ever ZOOM virtual meet up. Artists in attendance included: Jeff Sharp, Mary Beth Francis, Jim Roberts, Lauren Latané-Valis, and Thomas Sterner. Since no food could be ordered, the meet up lasted only a record 1 hour! We still had drinks though…except Jim who drank flavored seltzer water.

Each artist revealed their interpretations of idiom, beginning with Jim Roberts.

After each artist presented their work in rotation, the work was displayed for a gallery screenshot. Each work was also photographed individually and are displayed in separate post in the image isolation gallery. We hope you enjoy the art and will visit us again.

Feel free to leave some comments below and visit and/or join our Facebook group as we invite all interested artists to create an interpretation of the next theme, “isolation” (5in. x 7in. or smaller please) and post it to our Facebook group page. 5×7 UNDERGROUND will then post their artworks after the next happening on May 15th. We realize it’s only a month away, but something tells me we’ll have the time. We are trying to grow our online community and encourage dedicated artists everywhere to participate!
