The eleventh tabletop happening of 5×7 UNDERGROUND occurred on Friday, March 22nd, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. “Toxic” was the theme and chosen by member, Jeff Sharp. Toxic was also the Oxford Dictionary word of the year for 2018.
5×7 UNDERGROUND met at Tim Thai Restaurant in Westminster, Maryland. Tim Thai is considered by many, the best Thai food in Westminster. There are only two Thai restaurants in Westminster, but still, the food was exceptional and they now even serve wine and beer!
Artists in attendance included: Jeff Sharp, Mary Beth Francis, Jim Roberts, Lauren Latané-Valis and Thomas Sterner. Thomas currently has work in a show at NOMA in Frederick until the end of March 2019 not to mention a host of public sculptures in progress, so be on the lookout in Westminster as well as Havre de Grace in the coming months.
Each artist presented their interpretation of toxic, beginning with Jeff Sharp. After each 5×7 UNDERGROUND artist presented their work in rotation, the work was displayed for a gallery photograph. Each work was also photographed individually and can be viewed in the isolated image gallery. We hope you enjoy the art and will visit us again!
Feel free to leave some comments below and visit and/or join our Facebook group as we invite all interested artists to create an interpretation of the next theme, “ritual” (5″x7″ or smaller please) and post it to our Facebook group page. 5×7 UNDERGROUND will then post their artworks on the Facebook group page after the next happening on May 24th, 2019. We continue to grow our online community and encourage dedicated artists everywhere to participate!
